We went to the French Open Tennis Tournament this year, and spent several days seeing Paris, too. The city really is magical with wonderful food, accommodating people, and beauty everywhere. We had a wonderful time.
Romantic scenes appear everywhere you look. I could spent hours just looking at the city through a camera lens. But this trip was also about vacation. These tourist photos show a sample or our experience.
One of my bucket list items: The Great Wall of China! Alison Campbell found a hiking/biking adventure through China that included a two day walk on the wall and bicycling through Beijing and southern China.
We had a wonderful group of about twelve people and simply had the best possible trip. These are some of my favorite shots.
A Steep Climb
The Great Wall undulates from peak to peak. Some of the walkways are quite steep. This was one of the steeper ones we climbed.
Our guide joked that the wall was built by two brothers, one with very short legs and long feet and the other with stubby feet but very long legs. As a result, some steps are three feet high with hardly a ledge for your feet while others are three feet wide with a three inch rise. It makes the walk more challenging.
Cape Code/Martha's Vinyard
We took a bike trip with the Campbells to Cape Cod and Martha's Vinyard.
Peter and Ruth Caisse invited us share in their wedding in Brazil. It was the first time Dana returned to Brazil in 35 years and my first time ever. We got to visit Rio, São Paulo, and Paraty. It was a great trip. We had a wonderful time touring, the wedding was fantastic, and we also met up with Dana's host family from her exchange year. This was one of our very best trips ever.
