New York and the US Open

Aw, man! We had our escape all planned. Take the early flight to Newark and the train into the city. From there we planned to grab a quick lunch and take a train out to the botanical gardens in the Bronx. What could possibly go wrong? 

We boarded our plane and were next to take off when they pulled over and stopped. They told us that the intercom system was out and they tried to restart it twice but it would not come back on, so they took us back to the terminal. After a bit of work, they announced that they could not fix it, but another plane was coming. So instead of leaving at 6:50, we finally got to leave around 11:30. I guess it was actually kind of nice to sit for awhile without much to worry about. But I think we could have found a better place to do it.
